Join us for a wine tasting event with Brittany Cutrone, proprietor of Loughlin Vineyard and granddaughter of Barney Loughlin. Learn the rich history of her family’s vineyard, their long-time connection with the Roosevelt family, and the legacy left by her grandfather through old letters, postcards, and personal memories. Ticket fee includes tasting a variety of wines, Meadow Croft house tour, historical presentation, and a one-year membership to the Bayport/Blue Point Heritage Association.

Join us for an engaging afternoon as we delve into the remarkable life and achievements of former Bayport resident, Maurice Goldhaber, a trailblazer whose curiosity and intellect shaped the landscape of modern science. Discover how his groundbreaking work and innovative spirit continue to inspire generations of physicists and thinkers today. Paul Abel, a lifetime Bayport resident and owner of n-dimensions Tutoring and Book Store, will present his story. Paul possesses degrees in physics and nuclear engineering and previously worked at Brookhaven National Laboratory.

The Devil in New York: The Witchcraft Trial of Goody Garlick

Step back into the shadow of colonial New York, where witchcraft and suspicion were the topic of fireside conversations. Decades before Salem became synonymous with witch trials, the small town of East Hampton found itself in the clutches of fear as a woman named Goody Garlick stood trial, accused of consorting with the devil. This talk explores the tangled web of rumor, power, and superstition that ensnared an entire community. Dr. Tara Rider is a senior lecturer at Stony Brook University in the School of Marine and Atmospheric Sciences with a multidisciplinary background in history, marine studies, and sustainability. Her research focuses on how nature, gender, and race are entwined with questions of power, culture, and identity.

Join us for “As Time Goes By” as we relax and enjoy the wonderful Roosevelt estate in summer. First, have a signature drink and then take a seat in the ladies parlor to hear a love story played on the piano. Enjoy a night of melodies the way people did before the use of recorded music. Film composer, J.K. Hodge will cover 100 years on the piano with some of your favorite tunes and a few unique pieces that may see their first light at Meadow Croft.

J.K. Hodge develops a distinctive and compelling sound that cuts across genres by fusing the delicacy and elegance of classical music with the modern appeal of crossover. His skillful blending of classical melodies with contemporary components is evidence of his avant-garde approach to music.

Event Schedule:

6:00-7:00pm- Enjoy a refreshing cocktail or mocktail and explore the house.

7:00-8:00pm- Piano music in the ladies parlor.

Signature Drink of the Evening: Blueberry Vodka Lemonade

This refreshing cocktail combines the crispness of lemonade, a summertime favorite, with the fruity sweetness of blueberries and the kick of vodka. It has a base of blueberry-infused vodka, fresh lemonade, blueberry syrup, and a whisper of mint, picked fresh from the Meadow Croft garden. Join us to test your knowledge of the local history of our twin communities of Bayport & Blue Point! Our great local historian Gene Horton created this program before he left us. Using Gene's questions, BBPHA member Frank Giebfried has added a few more and created a slideshow with photos for what will be a fun trivia game. And don't worry about getting a question wrong, only you will see your answer sheet. Participation is encouraged! This program is open to all.
